Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Lipstick

*Post originally written by Olivia J on The Unknown Beauty Blog. If you see this post elsewhere, it has been stolen!*

I heard about Koh Gen Do cosmetics in the middle to late 80's in Japan. Many makeup artists were raving about how great it was because of its light texture and smoothness. Well, now this line is here in the USA and its foundation has joined the Hi-Def bandwagon.

Koh Gen Do Lip Products - Blister Pak Sample

In fact the entire line is suppose to be HD friendly. However, my review isn't about the foundation, it is about the Maifanshi lipstick ($35USD) which comes in eight colors. I got this sample blister pack by signing up on their website. (If you haven't signed up, their samples appear to be different this month; makeup bases.)

Koh Gen Do - Lips

Anyway, I got this blister pack of nude colors: Coral orange-a burnt orange with gold microsparkles, Coral Beige-terracotta beige with gold microsparkles, Nude Beige-creamy tan pink, and Fresh pink-soft carnation pink with gold microsparkles. The texture is lightweight and leaves a dewy finish which is different from glossy, just gives that slight look of moisture to the lips. Nice but it has a silicone-like slip to it which makes the formula feel like it is slipping all around my lips. The pigment is very sheer. Do not try to build up color with this or it will leave swipe or brush marks on your lips. The picture below shows the various lipcolors. Please note that I have pigmented lips and that is what shows through and the color is just a slight tinge. I have to say it is pricey for a lipstick that just moisturizes and leaves little color. And, this leaves me hesitant to fork out $$$ on the other products like foundation. For now, I will just skip this line until I can see it in person.
