My EOTD Challenge #2

Don't worry I won't do a continuing series on my eyeshadows, I just had this written and figured I would post before my next different post.

When I got this color combination, I knew I wouldn't be to happy using them. First of all the Random.org widget generated the numbers 87 and 265. I don't have an eyeshadow numbered 87 and went a number up which happens to be 95. Number 95 is matte light cerulean blue or almost a powdery blue. Number 265 I did have which is a matte light grey with silver micro glitter.

I Have Too Many Eyeshadows-My Challenge and What Do You Think?

Lately, I have been frustrated with myself for having way too much eyeshadow and quite honestly, ashamed. You have seen my posts for the various colors of Faces Cosmetics eyeshadows. Yes, I have 100 colors and out of those I only use about 6-only 6% of my collection. And, I probably use less than 6% of my brain writing this blog and for those who noticed this-astute observation!

L A Splash Lip Divinity Lipstick in Juicy Melon

Due to my recent purging of my nude lipsticks which left me outdated according to my flamboyant friend, I have been trying to find lipcolors that would make me feel like me. This is pretty hard since I have always been used to wearing nudes. I know some of you are saying, "who cares what your friend says." Yeah, I shouldn't care but the truth is I do need to move forward and see more color on my lips. I find choosing a lipstick harder than trying to solve a sudoku puzzle while hanging upside down on a tree branch that is about to break. Yes, it is hard because I really don't know what colors I like. I also wasn't willing to spend $30 or more for just a lipstick only to end up hating the color. This is where a trip to Ulta was necessary.

You Have to Watch this Smoky Eyes Tutorial by Jordan Liberty

If you haven't clicked on his post from my blog roll, well you are missing out on a good tutorial.  He actually shows the products he uses for this clip.  AND he uses disposable mascara wands!  I guess that is what impressed me the most.  I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but when you see makeovers on tv, sometimes the makeup person applies straight from the tube and uses the same wand on others.  I guess the studio has a good liability insurance policy.  Also, I am not stalking Jordan (if you are reading this), I just admire your work! :-)

I Changed the Name of My Blog

I just realized the title wasn't cutting it for me and a different side of me was coming out so I had to change the name.  Originally The Land of Makeup Obscurity wasn't cutting it.  The Unknown Beauty Blog sounded more appropriate.  I don't know how it will work on a search engine but I am assuming I am screwing myself at the moment and will get everyone mixed up and lost.  Oh well, it will be my fault but just remember the URL is the same: http://maquillageobscura.blogspot.com.

Illamasqua Baptiste Nail Polish

Yep, it's me Olivia your unknown beauty blogger.  (I feel like I should be wearing a paper bag over my head like the Unknown Comic for any of you who remember the Gong Show. LOL)  Since, it is a nice relaxing weekend so far, I decided to do my nails.  This time I wanted a color that looked luxurious and rich.  Illamasqua Baptiste ($14USD) fit the bill and I also love purple.

Orly Space Cadet and Galaxy Girl-ORLY awesome?

I consider this beauty blog as the unknown one or the underground one, yes if you want to know the not so latest stuff or information on lines that no one will really tell you about, well this is the blog to look at.  So, why am I doing the Orly Cosmic FX nail polish post?  Because once in a while an underground writer has to go above ground  (I feel like a gopher popping its head out of the den) and see what the rest of the world is raving about.

What I Do to Color My Hair

Major Disclaimer:  What I did is for my own hair, therefore I know my hair very well and how far I am allowed to go before I damage it from no-return.  If you try this at home, you are risking not only damaging your hair but turning your hair into a color you will be unhappy with and start crying and whining.  Put it this way, I understand what I did to my hair color wise.  If you don't know what you are doing, best to leave it alone or allow a pro to do it.

Yes, I am still on my blogging break although this post doesn't seem like it.  I tweeted about my haircolor ponderings, so I just thought you would be curious as to how my hair turned out.   I've been coloring my hair since the late 70's and never stopped because its fun to have a different head of hair every few months.  My hair has been every color, from a punk rock red burgundy to a platinum blonde.  Within the many times I have colored my hair, I have damaged it once and that one time taught me to be very careful.
