Black is Black - Swatches of Some of My Black Eyeliners

Black is black only when it is generalized as a color amongst other colors.  But when you are makeup aficionado, a small variation can start a collection.  I swatched some of the black eyeliners that I had.  I didn't do all since some were put away in some box somewhere.  These are the ones that I have used regularly and up until now I really didn't pay attention to the blackness of each.

Top row left to right:  Smashbox Waterproof Shadow Liner in Envy-neutral black with glittery sparkle; Joe Blasco Ultamatte in Black-a warm black; Three Custom Color Specialists Opaline in Aurora-sheer black with violet sparkle.

Second row left to right:  NYX Super Skinny Marker in Black-very deep shiny black (my face); Essence Liquid Eyeliner in Black-flat black; L'Oreal Infallible Carbon Black-deep black; L'Oreal Infallible Black-smoked black.

Third row left to right:  NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean-cool toned black; MAC Engraved-charcoal black; Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner in Smoke-charcoal grey black; Delux Beauty Nilla Black-very deep black.

Fourth row left to right:  Joe Blasco Black Pencil-warm grey black; Urban Decay Zero-warm black; Revlon Smoky Crayon in Black Smoke-shimmery charcoal black; MAC Black Russian-blue black due to the blue glitter but not a deep black.

Do I have enough black eyeliners?  No, every one is different as you can see and the textures of these which I chose not to explain are different.  At the moment, my favorite is the NYX Super Skinny Marker because it is glossy and black plus it is easy to use.  Little by little though, my love for gel liners is waning.  Why?  They dry up even when I keep them tightly capped.  They also, as they become un-new and become gloppy and form gel liner boogers on my brush which makes application choppy.  Sometimes those boogers fall on my face during the day and without me knowing it, and I will smear it across my face having a fine black line on my cheek.  I want my eyes lined not my face.  Okay, I didn't mean to gripe, I was just trying to voice my opinion and stop myself from buying anymore gel liners.  Now, I will just turn my attention to more liquid, cake, cream, and pencil eyeliners in….black.
