Indie-Pendent Post - High Voltage Cosmetics Lip Candy

*Post originally written by Olivia J on The Unknown Beauty Blog. If you see this post elsewhere, it has been stolen!**

In this post I am featuring High Voltage Cosmetics.  The line consists of mineral eyeshadows, blushes, highlighters, and lip products created by owner Jasmine who has a flair for creating colors that reflect the time and place of the names given.  I keep looking at the "Stuck in the 80's" collection and can remember feeling the way the colors are titled.  Okay, I am getting a bit too psychological but it is true, you feel the way the colors are created in this line.

I did buy several eyeshadows but will post those later.  I quickly wanted to highlight the Lip Candy ($5.50USD) which I found intriguing.  These are concentrated little pots of vegan lipcolor with just a tad of peppermint, nothing that is overwhelming to the lips just a slight scent.  They come in colors to suit a Goth or the average everyday person (like me).  I chose a somewhat, okay a tame trio of colors:  Mr. Wrong, Take the Stage, and Va Va Voom.

Mr. Wrong is described as an orange red.  It is an orange red but it has that slight fashionable punk quality to it, none of that retired, old lady, dated orange red.  (<---I probably insulted someone with that description but you know what I mean!)  The orange really conforms into the rich red making it wearable for even a warm skintoned person like me.  Take the Stage is a pink coral that doesn't scream the tropics, very wearable for all seasons and any climate.  Va Va Voom is a deep red with a slight duochrome that makes it look mauve-red.  This is my favorite one, wearable with anything!

I actually love these Lip Candy lip colors for several reasons.  They are made with a lot of love and creativity, you can feel these when you wear them.  They are vegan.  Even though I am not vegan and really don't preach to be one, anything that can be made without animal products and still have standards that are in line or even surpass regular cosmetic company quality is great with me.  The lip colors are also very pigmented which remind me of another brand that has very pigmented vegan lip stuff, OCC or Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.  The Lip Candy is what the lip tars are without the oily and drippy mess.  If you hated how the lip tars bled and feathered then try the Lip Candy because it is a pigmented pot of color that is easily applied with a brush and won't bleed even after long hours of wear.

If you were hesitant to try this line because you were intimidated by the colors, don't be.  Just choose what will look good on you.  If you look good in blue lipstick, then great get that one or if you look good in coral, get one of those.  These Lip Candy lipcolors are definitely worth a look and a try!
