Smashbox Softbox Eye Palette-You Need This Palette!

Pin It When makeup artist Jordan Liberty mentioned how fabulous the Smashbox Softbox palette ($48USD) was, I basically let his remark go in one ear and out the other.  Then he mentioned there was a fabulous TAUPE liner in the kit.  Well, that kinda stuck in my mind.  I didn't go searching for this palette though because I already had enough neutrals to paste onto my bedroom wall!  I only remembered this palette when I saw a brand-spanking new tester at Ulta.

This palette contains nine neutrals of warm and cool tones with two cream eyeliners:  Nectar-matte peach, Vanilla-matte ivory, Flirt-sparkled beige with silver microglitter, Lucky Penny-shimmery golden copper, Sugar-shimmery ballet pink with gold, Stone-matte medium grey-brown, Sienna-shimmery brown, Nude-fleshtone brown, Truffle-shimmery warm taupe, Bronze liner-shimmery brown, and Taupe liner-shimmery neutral taupe.  They are housed in a sturdy cardboard palette with a mirror and a dual ended eyeshadow brush which is actually very useful.  There is also a sample size Photo Finish Lid Primer (not shown).

What makes this palette great is that it is one of those essential set of eyeshadows that pro brands sell but with a more fashionable twist, mixing shimmer and satiny mattes.  The colors have the usual essentials of Nectar (peach), Vanilla (ivory), Stone (taupe), and Nude (midtone brown) in a matte texture add the taupe eyeliner.  There you have your no-makeup look .  Maybe, you just like a bit a shimmer or sparkle to add to it, add Truffle for some shimmer or even Flirt that is the only shadow with microglitter.  You have dressed up your natural eye look.  Or maybe, you want a smoky eye but hated the harshness of black.  Take the Bronze eyeliner and place it all over the lid and layer it with either or both Sienna and Lucky Penny.  Use the Sugar eyeshadow as a highlighter on the browbone, center of the lid or even on the cheeks.  This palette houses a complete set of workable and wearable colors.

The texture and pigment of these shadows are superb.  Creamy and smooth, they glide on thanks to the nylon-12 content.  This nylon-12 also makes it very friendly on mature eyes giving a smooth application without the wrinkly crinklies.  Even the Flirt which contains glitter is great on mature lids, it contains just enough sparkle for that fun touch. 

Of course, this palette is great for anyone of any age and like I mentioned it contains colors that are essential which are hard to find in a non-pro palette.  I have to give high praise to Smashbox and Jordan Liberty for this palette, it is a need-to-have palette!
