L'Oreal 24hr Infallible Eye Shadows

*Post originally written by Olivia J on The Unknown Beauty Blog. If you read this post elsewhere, it has been stolen.*

I waited silently for the L'Oreal 24hr Infallible Eyes Shadows ($7.99USD) to appear here in the good ol' USA.  I actually envied the makeup junkies across the pond who had access to these.  I heard only praises about these shadows and wondered about them.  I wondered about the colors, texture, and pigment.  I didn't have any of the Giorgio Armani shadows similar to these and I wasn't willing to cough up the $$$ since I had spent $36 on Chanel Illusion d'Ombre which I forgot to give a thorough review.

These all come in a simple clear but sturdy plastic jar with a stopper inside to prevent crumbling and allowing them to be pressed down.

I bought six colors to suit my needs at the moment.

  • Endless Pearl-warm satin ivory.  Can be used as a highlighter on the cheekbones.
  • Iced Latte-nothing close to the coffee, shimmery champagne beige.  Can be used as a highlighter on the cheekbones.
  • Continuous Cocoa-satin dark brown.  Great as a soft eyeliner or for tightening.
  • Midnight Blue-shimmery seductive navy blue.
  • Eternal Black-shimmery black with silver sparkles.  This one has glitter.
  • Perpetual Purple-shimmery deep purple.  Just as seductive as the blue.

I only have praise for these shadows.  They are long-lasting, easy to use, and are pigmented well enough to provide a good color finish.  The texture, I admit, was a bit surprising because I expected something like the Chanel that I mentioned above.  Chanel has that creamy texture that allows the product to be spread smoothly and blended like a powder.  It has the feel of luxury mixed in.  These are more of a powder with a dry quality of a cream.  The texture also has the characteristics of a powder shadow which will allow them to blend really easy.  Pigment is great for a cosmetic line let alone a drugstore product, less saturated than pro products but for regular life these do not disappoint at all.  Size-wise, Chanel may look larger but they are the same although it contains just a tad more--4g for Chanel and 3.5g for L'Oreal.

You won't get the fancy glass jar and the logo box with the special little brush with these.  You won't get that snobby makeup artist with that foreign accent telling you why you look awful without their products.  You don't get that special phone call or card thanking you for the purchases.  What you get here is a product that works just as well as high end, goes on sale, has coupons, and only has your own voice rationalizing your purchase.  Worth it for me!
