Hypercolor Hair Powders by Anastasia

*Post originally written by Olivia J on The Unknown Beauty Blog.*

If you thought Anastasia was just all about neutral eyeshadows and brows, well think again.  Not only is Anastasia a brow and cosmetic guru, she is now a hair guru!  Lauching exclusively at ULTA stores on Dec. 26th, 2012 (perfect timing for the New Year's Eve soirées) and sold there exclusively for the first few months are the fun and funky Hypercolor Hair Powders!

You have seen the trend of ombré hair with those fun anime colors and how pretty the looks are, but maybe you aren't into the commitment of coloring your hair to attain the look especially the bleaching part.  Well, do not fear because with Anastasia Hypercolor Hair Powders you can have all the color fun without any commitment or damage to the hair.

There will be five neon colors available retailing for $12.50USD/$16.25CAD:  Teal Tornado, Electric Blue, In the Pink, Megawatt Green, and Ultra Violet.  Not only are these pigment rich colors for the hair, they can also be used on the brows and used as eyeshadows (with the exception of In the Pink-for hair and brows only)!  Yes, Anastasia made a multi-purpose hair product.

Each Hypercolor Hair Powder contains key ingredients of rich pigments to work on even dark hair;  silicone to allow easy application and Kaolin Clay to give a fine texture and to absorb excess oils.  All of these are paraben-free.

The picture below (click to enlarge) gives simple instructions on application.  I do agree with the first step to use gloves (If you don't, just don't touch anything else other than your hair, the product washes off easily with soap and water.) and have a towel around your shoulders or wear a smock or an old t-shirt to avoid staining your clothes from the inevitable fallout from the product.

A little tip, if you have Asian hair or really slick hair, follow the instructions above and also do a light spray of hairspray BEFORE applying the hair powder.  This will allow for better adhesion and more intense color application.  Then, set again with hairspray.

Here, I used a smattering of color all over and combed the colors through for a bit of that blended/ombré effect.  See how the colors look softly blended?

Okay, maybe you prefer a bit more contrast and more color.  In the following pictures, I applied the colors more intensely without combing it through.  (I actually like the Electric Blue and the Megawatt Green!)

Fun and funky but why stop there with the hair?  Like I mentioned, these can be used as brow colors and eyeshadow.  I am liking my hot pink/violet brow!

What is my take on these Hypercolor Hair Powders?  I think they are well worth the price just for the fun you will get by using them on the hair, brows, and eyes.  Use them as much as you like or just color a sliver of your hair to reveal that daring personality of yours.  How you use the powders is your creative fun.  Best of all, it all washes out easily with no trace of your alter ego!

All Hypercolor Powders are safe to use on hair, brows, and eyes with the exception of In the Pink which can only be used on the hair and brows.
