Sometimes when you have worn or seen so much makeup to the point it hides true inner beauty, you want products that will just enhance.  Benecos is one of those brands.

Benecos is an affordable German cosmetic brand which formulates its products with natural and organic ingredients. Although not all the products are vegan, this brand has one of the largest selection of vegan cosmetics. The line also prides itself with the following:

  • Gluten Free and Cruelty Free
  • Made in Germany
  • No paraben, No PEG
  • No silicones or petrochemicals
  • No synthetic preservatives
  • No synthetic dyes or fragrances

I had the chance to try three different products for the face; a foundation, an eyeshadow, and a lipstick.

Benecos Natural Creamy Makeup

Benecos Natural Creamy Makeup ($17.99) - This vegan foundation is the matte formula. The line has other finishes of foundation from powder to BB creams.  You do have choices which I found surprising since many natural brands tend to stick with one type and they also end up charging an arm and a leg for the product.

The Foundation

This foundation comes only in 3 colors: Nude, Honey, and Caramel.  The one you see is the Honey which is a shade darker than my skin which I don't mind because with the highlighter powders and such I use, it ends up perfect for my skin tone.  However, if you have dark ethnic skin, the darkest color Caramel may be too light.

The foundation feels like a tinted moisturizer more than a foundation.  I found there is one drawback to it and it is application.

The Disadvantage

The formula although it is moisturizing, it tends to dry to this immovable finish.  If you try to spread it, it will pill up.  The best way is to work fast and not to work in layers. I applied this one quickly and thickly!

The Coverage Options

You get a medium coverage at the most, if you work fast!  However, I prefer just a sheer finish which works well for this product.  Notice the streakiness.  There is a fault to this foundation, yet I like it because it doesn't feel like makeup.

Benecos Natural Mono Eyeshadow

Benecos Natural Mono Eyeshadow ($12.99) - This line carries the everyday wearable and what I call comfortable eyeshadows.  All of them are vegan, nothing animal about them.  Although it is a powder shadow, it does have moisturizing oils in the formulation making them mature-eye friendly.

So What Eyeshadow

The color I tried out is the all-around and probably will be the most popular since it is the most wearable for everyday and all year round.  It is one of those eyeshadow colors you just swipe and go.  It is called So What, a shimmery champagne glow.

The product easily applies with a makeup brush but has a tendency to get powdery; just swirl the brush softly in the pan.

Powdery Texture

The color is not as pigmented as the pro brands but it isn't too sheer either.  The swatch on the left shows it on a white cream base.  The shimmer is soft, nothing outlandish.

Benecos Natural Lipstick

The Lipstick

Benecos Natural Lipstick ($13.99) is a moisturizing lipstick which wears well in terms of a regular lipstick.  It isn't one of those long-wearing dry lipsticks that become immovable.  It is the everyday lipstick which moisturizes the lips and keeps them moist without any feathering.  Unfortunately, it is not vegan since it contains carmine.

I like this lipstick because it feels like a lipbalm but slightly heavier to provide color coverage. There is no scent to it.  The color you see above is First Love, described as a coral pink.  I found it to be more of a rose pink but maybe it was my eyes or the lighting.  Either way, I still found the lipstick to be comforting on my lips,

Benecos is a brand which comforts your skin. You may be one of those who likes makeup but just can't get into all those "too much makeup" looks you see all over the web.  The ingredients work for the skin and not against it, therefore you won't feel like a foreign version of yourself.  You will feel like yourself but better!  Of course if you are into the natural and organic cosmetics, this is one line which I found had one of the most complete collection of makeup and at a very affordable price.

If you are curious about the brand, check them out at True Natural.  The site also offers many discounts and international shipping as well.
