For those of you who have followed me before, welcome back! For those who are new, welcome!
The reason for this blog's resuscitation is for therapeutic reasons which I will get into in my next post AND a quiet place for others. I pretty much think we have gone full circle with beauty in the social media arena and have witnessed its results.
TUBB
The Unknown Beauty Blog is still the name. Now, it has a different meaning, more of unknown as in exploring what beauty really is or can be. It isn't just beauty products, it is what makes your inner beauty grow which from the start of blogging had been important to me.
No one is ugly, everyone has that uniqueness of beauty. Put it this way, you find a cat that has an unusual pattern when you really wanted a pedigree. As you get to know it, you find its personality is everything! It turns out to be one of sweetest pets and the love of your life. It isn't the purity of the breed, it is the purity of the personality.
Some people will disagree with your beauty because it isn't that algorithmic or mathematical standard. Who the fuck cares! The internet is about numbers, real life is about the variety in beauty.
MONETIZATION
Monetization will not happen. I will not accept PR items which I hardly got before, but this time I don't want any. Why? I hate the obligation of doing a review even when I am not into the product. It really wastes my precious time. Not only that, I don't think you want another place that will hype up a product for a day with the words, "I'm OBSESSED..." Also, I will not allow any press releases nor will I allow anyone to pay me for certain articles to be written or posted.
I also don't care about algorithms, seo stuff, and social media. I am not on any social media sites. I am not going to hurt my brain over the ranking in some search engine and my status in the virtual world.
There will also be no ads which there never were in the first place. If you want to see ads and pop-ups, I suggest you go to a different site that brings up that pop up: Your ad-blocker is on. If you see ads, then that means I have affiliate links to them.
Speaking of them, I will have some referral codes that will tempt me to spend money in the allotted time the coupons are valid. Affiliate linking, I have to think about that. I know it is about commission and buying products which has mostly been Amazon for me, but I don't think I can tell you how great a box of mealworms can be just to support the habit of my little wildlife pets in my yard. I certainly wouldn't want you to start liking them like the kid in How to Eat Fried Worms! So, affiliate linking is not something high on my agenda because I really don't want you to overconsume.
OVERCONSUMPTION
That is the last thing I want for anyone to do. The days are different. Disposable income, luxury spending, wasteful consumption; there isn't much money for that. I don't want you to spend money on a product just because it is out there. Let me do it! NO, I AM KIDDING! I don't even have the money for it.
I will be honest and say I have bought some things and I wish I kept them just for this blog. It wasn't some crazy spending. It was here and there but the items weren't something I liked, it didn't suit me. I ended up giving them away and, shamefully, filling the landfill. So, some of the posts I write will have stock photos because dumb me didn't take photos. I just kept copious notes in a makeup journal to avoid buying the products again.
TOPICS
I won't talk about what the internet seems to focus on for rage-bait and click-bait. This blog isn't the place. I will talk about non-beauty stuff like mobile apps, television, movies, and whatever comes to mind.
However, I will not talk about Labubus! I will state this with conviction, THIS IS A LABUBU FREE ZONE!!! I don't understand the appeal of these creatures whose future home will be some Goodwill. You know there will be an overabundance causing an avalanche like the tribbles in Star Trek!
I would also like your suggestions. What would you like to see? I can only think up so much with my Gen X brain.
RELAX
Please, think of this blog as a refuge for your mind. I want this to be a place where you can just sit back and relax like in the old days when people read a newspaper or a magazine.
