I am posting the Red Chamber concealer product first before my other products from this line. I want people to know there is a concealer palette from an Asian brand which doesn't look white when applied. It actually looks like the color in the pan!
I was on the verge of giving up on a concealer that feels comfortable and doesn't ghost me out! For those of you who have tried Asian brands, I am sure you know what I mean. Other important characteristics would be for it to not look drying on mature skin, easy to work with, and to provide versatility since skin isn't the same through the seasons.
Red Chamber Haruki Concealer Palette ticked all the boxes and more.
Established in 2020, Red Chamber is a Chinese beauty brand (C beauty) setting its own strict guidelines for clean beauty as you can see from the picture below.
I don't preach the clean beauty system. I just like products that work for me. Even though the brand says there aren't any preservatives, they are walking a fine line. You could say some of the skin conditioners, humectants, and emoillients double as a preservative. There is a loophole!
This palette consists of five colors which possibly could work for porcelain to medium skin colors. The colors can be used individually or mixed to create a custom color.
- The colors are the following:
- Apricot Whisper - the ubiquitous salmon color to neutralize dark circles under the eyes.
- Mystic Glow - Useful for brightening the dark colors or to highlight face. Can be used as the eye opening detailed eyeliner.
- Frost Trace - olive based(!!!!) Used to conceal redness or as a stand alone for olive toned people like me! (Let's toast with a martini!)
- Misty Veil - neutral toned. Heavier in texture for coverage.
- Dewy Light - this can be used to dilute. Red Chamber describes this as a primer for any small area to provide a breathable protection between skin and the actual concealer color.
You can see by the swatches none of that ghostly looking colors. Against the white the colors look darker but you can see there is rich pigment in each of them except for the Dewy Light.
As a mature woman, this one is great under the eye area and anywhere else, no dryness. For oily skin people, I would recommend a dusting of powder before application to allow the cream to sit comfortably and to reduce the creaminess. Silica based powders are good as they soak up the oil.
The palette only comes in this color combo. Maybe, in the future there will be more to accommodate darker skin tones. The price varies somewhat, generally it is around $35 or a bit more.
