The Illusion of Lift on Hooded Eyes

I know some of you may have found my last post on opening your eyes a bit different in placement of eyeshadow from your usual method, especially when you see everyone applying the same way.  But why do actors and actresses on television and movies look wide awake even though the night before, they may have only slept five hours.

Besides the fact a good concealer is important; eyeshadow illusions are important too.

Here are a pair of hooded eyes from one of my favorite actresses. See the faint line defining the orbital ridge?  Do you see it?  Maybe, the next picture will help.

I drew a faint red line to show where the lifting or the eyeshadow placement occurred.  Yeah, not where you usually expect it but that is where it should be on mature hooded eyes or for any shape of eyes!

Here is another angle of the eyeshadow.  Notice the space between the lashline and the actual orbital ridge.  When your eyes move in different angles and such, the orbital ridge eyeshadow will move by lowering.  This is why it is important to apply the eyeshadow much higher than you naturally think it should be.

Did you guess the actress to whom these eyes belong?

None other than the beautiful Melinda Clarke!  I never watched her in the O.C. but loved her as the bitchy Amanda on Nikita.  I also had to include Noah Bean in the picture, he is just nice to ogle at!
