Love, Learn, & Live - Makeup 2.0

One day you wake up and look into the mirror and suddenly realize the makeup you are wearing no longer looks right on you. But how can that be? You didn't see this the day before! Is this the dreaded aging process?

No! Like a tadpole whose legs developed internally then bust out, your inner beauty did the same! Makeup that had been worn as a mask or self expression now has legitimate competition from the soul. Your wisdom is growing and starts to show through. Congratulations!

The beauty industry likes to call this aging, and makes you fearful of all the inevitable changes especially the wrinkles. Wrinkles are the lines that developed your path into who you are today. In origami, you can't create the beauty of folded paper without the lines, so why be so fearful of what has been created on the face?

The first step is to love how you are evolving. You are turning into a unique individual, a soul like no one else. A jar of cream won't change that but it can make you feel insecure in your journey. Or you can accept that no matter how much money can be spent on beauty from the makeup counter to the doctor's office, your inner beauty is what needs to be balanced and accepted.

Yet, if you still love to play with makeup, the same "ritual" no longer works. The winged eyeliner no longer flies and the bright blush makes you feel like a clown. You end up frustrated only to buy new makeup, then realize the new seasonal colors aren't helping either. So what is wrong?

You have to learn. You are never too old to learn. This time makeup becomes easier, less detail oriented and more whole because of your inner beauty showing through. Besides that, the eyesight isn't as great as it used to be and details tend to take up time which becomes pretty precious.

So, what becomes important is learning how to shape the face in a way that enhances you and your wisdom. It can be a mix of technique, but I see it more as a re-alignment of where the makeup is applied. You want the planes of your face to look more shaped.

The way we learned makeup application really applies to how we see the face on paper which is flat. Our faces aren't flat, they have dimension. Yet, with illusion, our face becomes more dimensional.

I know I am sounding cryptic but it takes some unlearning to learn a different way. As I try to get my head together on how to explain everything. I hope you can be patient. In a way, I am continuing my Definitive Guides, but upgraded to a 2.0. It will be a mixture of how my brain works with the philosophy of how I see the shaping of a face and some theories. I will also try to continue more on color theory

Once you understand and learn, then just live and enjoy your life with your inner beauty and makeup!

Stay tuned!
