Girlcult Blush: Three Textures

Girlcult is one of my favorite C-Beauty (Chinese Beauty) brands. After trying their lip products, I had to satisfy my curiosity with their blushes. The three I have accumulated have different textures from each other. One is a very silky smooth powder while the other is like a waxy gel. The third one is a cream.

Two of the blushes are from the Four Great Inventions collection. You know the four: paper, printmaking, gunpowder, and compass. (Yes, the gunpowder, remember that movie The Great Wall with Matt Damon and Pedro Pascal?)

All these blushes can be used anywhere on the face, they aren't restricted as a blush product. They can be applied as eyeshadow or even lip color.

#18 Invisible Rosy

From the promotional photos, you assume it is some blackened blush that works with your own chemisty, those PH type blushes. It isn't. The photos are highly exaggerated and the color is more of a dark rose brown giving off a natural flush cheek color.

The texture is a waxy gel which I find isn't the easiest to work with. It can get patchy if applied with fingers. I wouldn't recommend a brush because it can become streaky. The best is one of those finger sponges, just tap the color onto the cheeks.

The disadvantage of this blush is its texture . It is hard to work with other products like foundation. If you wear foundation, the waxy texture will lift the foundation and since it applies patchy in the first place with just a quick application, the end result will be more visible. The best is to apply onto bare skin which I do and it works out fine, still not the smoothest result like other cream type blushes on the market.

#17 Beige

Surprisingly, this turned out to be my favorite out of the three. It is the pink-peach-beige powder which applies very smoothly. If you are someone who is of mature status, this one will work well on the cheeks and eyes. You could say as an eyeshadow, this could be a one and done for many skin tones.

I was afraid this would turn orange on me but it doesn't which is the main reason why I like this one. It ends up to be a really nice nude beige for me, just that slight color. I can apply this with either a sponge, brush, or even fingers. It is that easy to work with!

#24 Blossom

This one is from the Peach Festival collection. I am sorry to say that this is my least favorite. I almost wished I didn't buy it but temptation got to me!

The color is described as a pink white. If it is applied thickly then it is that color but who applies it that thick since it could smear. This is a cream and the texture is similar to a high end cream concealer. The color would work for porcelain to fair skin.

I can't wear this at all. As a highlighter, the color is just too white, I look like a sick ghost! Imagine my olive complexion with patches of ghost white. I would even scare a ghost!

The only way I could use this is to mix it with other products like my Sian Richards Nudism palette or even another concealer. For now, though, it will sit in the I-don't-like pile of makeup. So sad, yes it is my fault for spending my money on it. Guilt, guilt, guilt!

If you ever want to try Girlcult blushes, shop around. Legitimate products are priced anywhere from $12 to $30. I bought my Four Great Inventions from Amazon which oftens sells them at a sale price of around $13 and it is from the Girlcult Official Store.
