Lancome Lip Idole Juicytreat Oil Gloss

I really don't know what the difference between a lip gloss and a lip oil. I just think it is a way for a brand to make more money by just adding a little oil into a gloss. Yet, Lancome has taken my money...TWICE!

I bought 2 of the Lip Idole Juicytreat Oil Gloss. One in Brownie Bite which is a mauve based brown and Berry Bisou which looks purple but really is just so close to clear.

Key points to this beauty product:
  • Slight minty coolness
  • Big applicator
  • Contains 8.5ml (0.28oz)
  • Huge applicator
  • Makes a sound like uncorking a champagne bottle!

The huge applicator takes up a certain amount of space. It will affect the volume of the product. You can see the difference in the following photo. The sound it makes is not exactly quiet. The big applicator pops out of the container because it is designed to scrape off enough of the excess of gloss. However, I did find that the amount of gloss is more than the usual smaller applicator and this adds to the quick usage of the product. Within 6 months, I was down to the bottom of my lipgloss. This is something to take into consideration especially when this product costs $32.

I actually finished my Brownie Bite which left me feeling proud because I haven't finished a lipgloss in ages. Considering it is a luxury item, I am satisfied but I don't think I would buy it again because $32 is pretty steep unless it is on sale. The most I have ever seen it on sale is 30% off, bringing it down to $22.40. Not bad.

What I didn't like. The actual glossiness lasts about 10 minutes then it dries down to a vinyl finish. What is left on the lips is like a slight oily butter finish. The good thing about this gloss, it doesn't sink into the lines like Asian brands. The colors look great in the container and applicator but on the lips, it is hard to tell as you can see by the pictures. Can you tell the difference on my lips?

Conclusion

Buy it if you are wanting to try it. Ease your curiosity like me. If you can wait for a sale like Black Friday on Amazon then the price may make it worth it. All I know is that my curiosity has been satisfied and I will hunt for some other brand to try.

I also realized I don't like dipping my applicator into my gloss. What was on the lips goes into the container and it gets muddy looking. I prefer a glossy lipstick type. Maybe, I am overthinking but I envision my fish and chips oil mixing with the oil in the gloss! I also feel that if I wanted to buy this product next time, it will probably be priced close to $35 because that is how the economy is looking! Time to tighten my wallet!
