Difference between Asian and Caucasian eyes, Pt. 2

I know I did a post on this before, but I thought I would dig deeper. After reading some anatomy books and stuff on the web, the difference is so interesting that maybe some of you might like to know or maybe not. WARNING: This post could put you to sleep!

Dear Santa

I am in between posts right now, that means I know what is to be written but my mind won't put those words together. Instead, since the Holidays are in full swing, my mind is thinking about my cosmetic wishlist. (Not in any particular order.)

I Have Been Tagged

So, I am new to this blogging world and being tagged is new to me. I have been bestowed this bloggy award by Jitterbug Doll. Thanks babe! And so, I pass this on to the following 10 blogs.

Unconventional Cosmetic Tools

Hardware stores, kitchen supply stores, and art supply stores are three places that a makeup junkie should check out once in a blue moon. I admit, I am not keen on going to a hardware store but my friend sees it as his Sephora; I see it as a place to buy my caulking and spackle (not for the face). Kitchen supply stores don't thrill me as much either since my idea of cooking is going to my favorite gourmet grocery store and buying their dinner of the night, but sometimes there are items that catch my eye. Art supply stores are another story, although I am crappy at drawing, a good art store is just as mesmerizing to me as a makeup store. I could spend hours just looking at the different types of drawing paper, stationary, inks, etc. These places actually have useful items for the makeup junkie and makeup artist.

Soft Surroundings Outlet has Cosmetics on Sale

After reading London Makeup Girl's post on her Becca FOTD, I figured some of you may want to try some Becca stuff or for that matter, Paul & Joe stuff or other brands. Here is a sight: Soft Surroundings Outlet that has them on sale and not to mention other stuff on clearance. Shipping only seems to be within the U.S. which leaves out the international makeup addicts. :-(

Customizing Foundations

Someone suggested a post on customizing foundations, so I figured I would do it. I do customize many of my foundations. This may be the reason why I have so many. (Offshoot thought: Maybe, I will do a post on my favorite foundations in the future.) Foundations are usually a mix of white, red, yellow, brown, and some other secret mix of colors. Sometimes, those colors might not be enough or the texture isn't quite right which is why I customize for two reasons: texture and color.

New Z Palettes

Hollywood Emmy winning makeup artist Zena Shteysel has added two new colors to her Zpalettes and just in time for the holidays: a pretty Fabulous Pink and the wild animal Zebra. How nice to see palettes that are as colorful and as fun as the makeup that is stored. Organization can be more fun and more organized. No more searching through the same colored palettes, opening every single one just to find that ONE color. Now, you can categorize your depotted makeup by color, texture, type, etc.; and choose which palette is for what.

Chantecaille at Frends Beauty Supply

Frends Beauty Supply is one of those beauty supply stores that many people overlook. Like I mentioned in my Favorite Online Pro Store post, they have excellent service and ship overseas. Now, they sell Chantecaille and even the pan refills of some of their color stuff, not to mention all of it is sold always at a discount; some up to $11 off regular price! I get nothing from them for mentioning this. In fact, they don't even know I exist! So, enjoy and don't forget to buy some of the Ve Neill brushes while you are at it.

Julie Hewett Hue Colour Malachite and Eyeshadows

I am a big fan of Julie Hewett's Hue Colours ($14USD for the pot/$18USD for the pan) , so I couldn't wait for the Malachite to be in stock. This green is gorgeous and wearable on any skin tone and any age. Color-phobes will be able to wear this easily because it won't make you look like the green light at a traffic stop. The color is a shimmery Jade Lime which looks great on dark brown eyes and enhances olive or Asian skin tones. For others, this is a green that is mature yet fun. It is a green that works all year round, day or night.

Philosophy-The Supernatural Coloring Book

I think I was PMS-ing when I was at the Philosophy counter because I bought a palette that my gut feelings told me not to buy even though I had a lemming for this product since it came out. I knew I would regret this purchase but I just made an excuse that it was for the purpose of makeup research. (What a stupid excuse!) I knew I wouldn't really like the product but the colors lured me in, then my friend's comment opened my eyes. What was the comment? He said, "You know those colors look like cat food." I have been influenced by the color of the cat food that I have been feeding my cats. I really need to stop feeding my cats OR just trust my gut!

Julie Hewett Bijou Lipsticks

Bijou lipsticks ($20USD) are one of my favorite all year round lipsticks because they have the ease of application like a lipbalm yet are pigmented like a sheer lipstick. They are all moisturizing and have a light scent of orange, well more like an orange creamsicle. The lipsticks can be used with or without lipliner and provide a natural yet polished look. Since I had all the colors, any new colors would have to be added to the collection. So, here they are:

Julie Hewett Cheekies and Shimmies

During my Julie Hewett ordering hiatus, Julie had introduced a new Cheekie Destiny and a new Shimmy Pixie. I had the other colors so why not adopt these two to join the brood?
