The Best Makeup Setting Spray - Skin Illustrator Blue Marble Selr

*Post originally written by Olivia J on The Unknown Beauty Blog. If you see this post elsewhere, it has been stolen.*

I honestly don’t have money to waste on mediocre products only to end up reviewing them on this blog.  So when I am trying to find an actual working makeup sealant or setting spray, I ignore the hype and go straight to a professional line — Skin Illustrator.

I know you are sick of me mentioning the Skin Illustrator Glazing Gels, but I have to tell you after buying those, my eyes opened up and made me realize there is so much more and fun in makeup than just the usual “beauty” brands.  Pro brands or even the SFX (special effects) brands are truly reliable because the products HAVE TO WORK.  This is why I bought the Skin Illustrator Blue Marble Selr.

Check out: Why Blue Marble Selr is so damn good!

Blue Marble Selr ($11) is a water-based sealant or makeup finishing spray which, at first I mentioned it to be alcohol free in this post but changed it since it contains SD-40.  If you think this is bad, please read this important post on it from FutureDerm.

Blue Marble Selr Ingredients

I consider Blue Marble Selr to be the “action movie” setting sprays.  (In fact, this spray is used in many television shows and movies.)  The beauty brands have the “runway-suck-in-your-cheeks” pretty words spray.

Blue Marble Selr is the following:

  • Finishing spray forms a semi-matte film or a barrier to protect the makeup, making it waterproof, sweat-proof, humidity-proof.
  • Lightweight and almost undetectable.
  • Made for both men and women, it can be used anywhere there is skin.
  • Sets liquid, cream, powder makeup.
  • Can be used to set makeup on special effects (SFX) appliances.
  • Makeup may be applied on top for touching up without any problems.
  • Washes off easily with a cleanser.
  • Gentle enough to be used everyday

Blue Marble Selr Liquid

The picture on the left shows the actual sealant when sprayed.  You can see a slight glow in the liquid.  This I find nice because it actually provides a soft luminescence. The picture on the right, the spray dries forming a dependable barrier.

I consider this one to be one of the best setting sprays available.  The makeup lasts and stays true to color.  Touch ups can be done IF necessary.  The film-forming barrier is lightweight on the skin yet strong enough to protect any makeup underneath.  I won’t even turn an eye towards any of the cosmetic brands because pretty words alone will not seal a full face of makeup when one is fighting off zombies in 90% humidity!

By the way, if you explore this product even further, you will realize it isn’t just a makeup sealant.  The creative juices will flow, only limit is the imagination!
