When I reviewed Ben Nye in my previous post, some of you may have wondered about the differences or likenesses of the colors between these two lines. In this post I will show you the comparisons.
In the first picture, I compare Ben Nye Taupe ($5USD) to Make Up For Ever Aqua Brows ($20USD) in #15 (blonde) and #25 (ash) which are the two darkest colors Sephora offers online. They are about the same in pigment concentration. MUFE #25 is darker and more of a neutral taupe while MUFE #15 is is close to Ben Nye with a slight warmer finish.
For the second set of swatches, I compared the old version of MUFE Aqua Brows which you can see a demo of here. Ben Nye Dark Brown ($5USD) is shown at the top and you can see how it turns a bit red on my skin. The MUFE #4 which is a dark brown shows up closer to the Ben Nye Black Brown ($5) pencil rather than the Dark Brown.
On white paper though, the comparisons are a bit different.
Ben Nye Taupe ends up more neutral compared to MUFE #15 and MUFE #25. You can see more warmth in MUFE #15 which can be a problem for fair skin tones. The old version of Make Up For Ever Waterproof Brow in #4 does look darker than Ben Nye Black Brown and more neutral than Ben Nye Dark Brown.
I do like the Make Up For Ever Aqua Brows for being sweat proof and waterproof but I do prefer the Ben Nye for the swift application and water resistant formula (when set with powder). I do mix the two brands together to get a mix of texture and color which still looks natural. I do prefer the MUFE #4 though because my brows are naturally dark.
There you have the comparison of colors. I hope this helped some of you.
