I showed how placement of eyeshadow on the banana of the eyes could change the shape or in this case, elongate round eyes. In this post I show how eyeshadow is really creating a package for your eyes.
Anything above your eyelid is what some people see as the simple eyeshadow method of application, just highlight the brow bone and apply dark shadow in the crease. That is true, but there is more to it.
Here, I show in blue how to enclose the eye area. It is similar to shading the eyes. Using a taupe, mark the ends or the eye area. Notice, it is really contouring the nose and separating the eye area from the cheek and temple. Enclosing the eye area also helps as a guide for other eyeshadows.
Following the orbital ridge bone from outer to inner corner of the eye, just sweep a soft brown color to define.
Now you will notice that space between the lid area and the orbital ridge. This is where you can apply a lighter color to give the illusion of lift to the eye.
Next, just define the orbital ridge a bit more to create a "crease".
This is just an example of how you can package those eyes. Is this the only way to do it? Of course not. There are other ways which really depend on the end result of the eye look. Are you going for dramatic and smoky or are you going for natural no-makeup? If you know what look you want, then there will always be a corresponding method which shapes the eye better!
